IS MUSIC PIRACY STEALING?

To take anybody’s property without permission, that is stealing. Then surely we can consider music piracy as an act of stealing. Because in this case, there is something which is taken from its owner without asking. However, there are some points that make us separate to downloading music from theft with its all meanings. We can give several examples to explain differences between downloading mp3 and usual robbery, but there is one main reason, which creates a basis to all the other reasons, showing that downloading music is not a real theft. Producer companies in this musical field, make artist’s albums really expensive in a perfectly legal way. Of course they have rights to do it, however, their only aim in here is becoming the only alternative in terms getting music and clearly making more and more profit from it. In juridical point of view, this kind of behavior is completely normal and legal. However, this action doesn’t include honesty at all. As we can understand, some acts may not be ethically right even if it is completely legal. So music piracy is not the same thing with stealing from a specific person like owner of the music store. Eventually, In my opinion music piracy is getting back the rights of the consumers rather than stealing.
